I became a fan of Mac Miller via his features with AB Soul, Curren$y, Freddie Gibbs and Wiz Khalifa; I started to look more into his craft and became an instant fan. The late Mac Miller exhibited qualities of the 2010’s rap scene and incorporated an independent sound with success later in his career. His 2011 album Blue Slide Park set the mark for his future projects. Substance abuse problems and relationship issues plagued the artist and were often topics of his songs such as “Self Care” and his feature on AB Soul’s “The End is Near“.
Mac Miller passed away on September 7, 2018, a mystical quality in itself, since Tupac Shakur was shot on September 7, 1996. Mac Miller is our TIME MACHINE POET OF THE WEEK.
