J Dilla was a record producer & rapper who worked with the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, The Roots, The Pharcyde, Mos Def & Common. He is known for the emergence of Neo-Soul music & one-third of the underground group Slum Village.  He passed away in 2006 due to complications from Moschcowitz syndrome ( an incurable blood disease) and also had been diagnosed with Lupus.

His music captivates the very essence of time he inherited via the realm. J Dilla is our TIME MACHINE POET of the week. He popularized the ‘looping’ technique used in the sampling of songs – integrated into an instrumental, often accompanied by a hip hop artist. Not only does this style generate an eerie substance to the ears, it showcases time travel in it’s fullest form. Cycle your senses into the world of DILLA.

If you haven’t listened to his music, here’s a place to get started…
